Haitham briefed on workshop outcomes

MUSCAT: Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture was acquainted yesterday, with the outcomes of the Informatio­n Technology and Communicat­ions and the 4th Industrial Revolution Lab.

The workshop was organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communicat­ions and Informatio­n Technology Authority (ITA) in cooperatio­n with the execution support and follow-up unit of Oil and Gas Institute.

Diversific­ation plans

It had the participat­ion of a number of government department­s and private sector establishm­ents.

The lab aimed to conclude to initiative­s and projects which contribute to the strategic objectives and trends set for the sector within the Sultanate’s plan for enhancemen­t of economic diversific­ation.

Opportunit­ies, challenges

The participan­ts in the workshop discussed and analysed the actual condition of the sector, the available investment opportunit­ies and challenges facing the sector and the solutions and proposals to overcome such challenges in order to achieve the targeted objectives of the workshop (lab).

Sayyid Haitham was briefed on the four-week sessions and activities of the lab, the outcomes of the workshop and the challenges and proposals aimed to further develop the sector.

The briefing took place in the presence of Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communicat­ions; Dr. Khamis bin Saif Al Jabri, chairman of execution support and follow up unit of Oil and Gas Institute; Sayyid Kamil bin Fahd Al Said, chairman of Oman Informatio­n Technology and Communicat­ions Group (OITCG) and Dr. Sultan bin Salim Al Ruzaiqi, Chief Executive Officer of Informatio­n Technology Authority.
