Haitham briefed on workshop outcomes

The lab was organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Information Technology Authority

MUSCAT: Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture was acquainted yesterday, with the outcomes of the Information Technology and Communications and the 4th Industrial Revolution Lab.

The workshop was organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Information Technology Authority (ITA) in cooperation with the execution support and follow-up unit of Oil and Gas Institute.

Diversification plans

It had the participation of a number of government departments and private sector establishments.

The lab aimed to conclude to initiatives and projects which contribute to the strategic objectives and trends set for the sector within the Sultanate’s plan for enhancement of economic diversification.

Opportunities, challenges

The participants in the workshop discussed and analysed the actual condition of the sector, the available investment opportunities and challenges facing the sector and the solutions and proposals to overcome such challenges in order to achieve the targeted objectives of the workshop (lab).

Sayyid Haitham was briefed on the four-week sessions and activities of the lab, the outcomes of the workshop and the challenges and proposals aimed to further develop the sector.

The briefing took place in the presence of Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications; Dr. Khamis bin Saif Al Jabri, chairman of execution support and follow up unit of Oil and Gas Institute; Sayyid Kamil bin Fahd Al Said, chairman of Oman Information Technology and Communications Group (OITCG) and Dr. Sultan bin Salim Al Ruzaiqi, Chief Executive Officer of Information Technology Authority.
