PTI crowned Premier Division League champion

Passage to India dismissed Enhance for a meagre 101 and then chased down the small total in the 12th over

MUSCAT: Passage to India (PTI) thrashed a hapless Enhance by 9 wickets to be crowned champion of Premier Division League 201819 thanks to match-winning performanc­es by Aqib Ilyas (68 not out off 35), Ahmed Fayyaz Butt (3 for 20) and Bilal Khan (3 for 22) at Oman Cricket’s grassy ground one in Amerat on Friday.

Opting to bowl first, PTI dismissed Enahance for a meagre 101 and then chased down the small total in the 12 over, scoring 102 for 1. Apart from Aqib’s brilliant batting, Kashyupkum­ar contribute­d a patient 25 off 35.

PTI ended the league campaign with 9 wins and 36 points from 12 games, followed by Assarain with 8 wins and 32 points.

Al Turki and Muscat were at third and fourth positions with 20 points each.

Brief scores (Premier Division): Enhance 101 for 10 in 31.2 overs (Khurram Khan 17 – 3x4, Bilal Khan 3-22, Ahmed Fayyaz Butt 3-20, Hafeez Ur Rahman 2-25) lost to Passage to India 102 for 1 in 11.5 overs (Aqib Ilyas 68 not out – 4x4, 6x6, Kashyapkum­ar Prajapati 25 – 4x4) by 9 wickets.

Ooredoo sink PSD

Praveen das (74) and Vinod Venu (3 for 29) powered Ooredoo to an emphatic 7- wicket victory against Platinum Services Diamond (PSD) in an A Division Knockout T20 game at OC grassy ground two.

PSD posted 168 for 5 on the board in 20 overs thanks to lovely knocks from Imran Rijvi (60 not out) and Masud Pervez (57 not out). Venu bowled well to claim three wickets. Ooredoo raced to the target in only 17.5 overs, scoring 170 for 3. Praveen Das led the way with a superb 74 off 37 while Melwin Mathew contribute­d 37.

Renaissanc­e end Sinha campaign

In another A Division T20 Knockout match, Renaissanc­e routed Sinha by 9 wickets due largely to outstandin­g all-round performanc­e by Faizal Jerome who picked up 4 for 16 and then struck a fluent 25 to ensure an easy win for his team.

Sinha was bundled out for a paltry 85 in the 17 th over thanks to brilliant bowling by Faizal and Syed Muamil who bagged 3 for 28. Renaissanc­e surpassed to total in just 13.2 overs, scoring 86 for 1. Opener Rishabh Verma remained unbeaten on 37.
