Biggest education expo in Oman from April 14 to 16
MUSCAT: Ghedex and Trainex, Oman’s biggest annual platforms for education providers, will open from April 14 to 16 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. The three-day event, held under the patronage of Ministry of Higher Education, is the most popular student canvassing event organised by OITE.
The 19th edition of Global Higher Education Exhibition (Ghedex) will feature opportunities for global universities, colleges and academic organisations to connect with students, parents, and officials across the region.
Over 200 universities from more than 20 countries are participating in the expo, which has a record of over 18,000 visitors in the past year. The attending countries include Australia, Canada, Cyprus, Turkey, France, Germany, Ireland, Malta, Malaysia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Qatar, Iran, Jordan, the UAE, the UK, and the USA.
Ashit I Barnes, Director – Exhibitions & Events of OITE, said: “Entering its 19th edition, this annual exhibition is a one-stop platform for graduating students seeking a wide array of education niches and career options. This year, we are delighted to welcome 200 universities from 20 countries.”
This year, free seminar sessions will provide further motivation for attendees to figure out courses and choices offered by various institutions and clearly define opportunities in advance studies and continuing education.
As an effective platform for the education community to share ideas, knowledge and experience, the free talks will be held in the morning with parallel seminars and workshops in the afternoon and evening. The speakers will cover relevant topics such as disruptive education technologies, higher education and learning.
Trainex, meanwhile, is an exclusive event held on the sidelines of Ghedex and plays a key role in training and boosting the local workforce in Oman. The threeday event, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Manpower, prepares prospective nationals for jobs in specialised industries.
It provides a broad range of possibilities for the Omani youth who are on the lookout for a better career through skills training and professional development courses.
The exhibitors will share the latest internship programs and courses that will build the national manpower and support Omanisation. As a launching pad to empower individuals, the expo helps to steer potential candidates towards achieving national goals and create a batch of graduates who are technically competent as well as adept in critical thinking, problem-solving and communication.
The presenters include technical and vocational education centres, training institutes, polytechnics, aviation institutes, architects and interior design to name a few.
Open to the public free of charge, both the expos provide extensive information on education and job opportunities, helping students and professionals to plan more effectively. Ghedex is supported by Al Ahlam Higher Education and Training Services and Education USA. Majan University College, Sohar University, Dhofar University and Education in Ireland are Lead sponsors whereas Muscat University and the University of Southern Indiana are Gold and Silver sponsors, respectively.
For Trainex 2019, the National Training Fund is the Lead sponsor while Oman Aviation Academy is the Gold sponsor. HEC Paris in Qatar is the Floorplan sponsor whereas Numo Institute of Competency Development and Infitech Training Institute are Silver sponsors.
