Indian by birth, Omani by heart: Beauty contest winner

MUSCAT: The Indian resident from Oman who was crowned the winner of La Femme, a beauty pageant featuring women from all over the world, has encouraged all women in the Sultanate to empower and grow themselves.

Piya Prakash Pawani was awarded first prize at the pageant, which was held in the Indian state of Goa, with representa­tives from South Africa and India coming in as runners-up.

“I am Indian by birth, Omani by heart, and was representi­ng women in Oman at an internatio­nal pageant to provide them an empowering platform to explore and grow,” she said, speaking exclusivel­y to Times of Oman.

“Thank you very much, and I appreciate all the help and support I have received to share my experience with everyone here.”

Pawani was quick to thank all those who had helped her achieve this success.

“Thank you Pushpa and Vama fashions,” she said, “I felt great and confident in every look you gave me,” to which Pushpa Negi of Vama fashions responded, “The pleasure was all ours! Piya Prakash Pawani, you have been one of our great well-wishers and a friend who has had complete trust in Vama and was so easy to work on your desires by the designing team sitting in my Delhi unit.

“You looked great indeed, and I was overwhelme­d with your direct daily updates as how you felt so confident in Vama,” added Negi. “Looking forward to seeing more pics of other Vama designer outfits. Our heartfelt thanks and hearty congratula­tions.”

Piya also thanked Pallavi Kaushik, her grooming expert and image consultant.

An ecstatic Pawani was quick to share her experience­s on social media, saying, “I embarked on this journey with a clear intention of representi­ng all the Indians in Oman. I am honoured and privileged to have been a part of this prestigiou­s platform La Femme Worldwide 2019, Goa.

“Life is funny, I clicked her before our big night began,” she said, as she shared a picture of the pageant crown she’d clicked before the event had begun.

“I didn’t realise she would be accompanyi­ng me home. Such a beauty and she was totally meant for me.”

“Thank you Radhika Wagh and Prashant Solapurkar for considerin­g me and believing in me. Thank you mentors Manjiri Jamkhindik­ar, Pallavi Kaushik, Swati Jain, Roshni Kapoor, Sanjay Kannan, Nalini Dhir, Sonal Panchal and the entire team of AVYUKTA MEDIA for all your love and support. I couldn’t have done it with you all,” she added.

Pawani was also on hand to thank the judges who had voted for her.

“Thank you judges Manini Mishra, Anjali Mody and Raghav Sharma. Standing in front of you and hearing all the positive feedback only gives me more strength and motivation to move forward. Thank you for gracing us with your presence on our big day,” she said.
