MSM index ends higher

The top gainer was Al Suwadi Power which closed higher by 5.88% while the top loser was Al Maha Petroleum Products which closed lower 2.44%.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed at 3,838.61 points, up 0.93%. The Shariah Index closed up 0.67% at 521.43 points, Al Suwadi Power, up 5.88%, was the top gainer. Al Maha Petroleum Products, down 2.44%, was the top loser. OIFC was the most active in terms of a number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 752 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating a turnover of OMR2.65 million with more than 18.39 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded stocks, 23 advanced, 3 declined and 10 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR140,000 while GCC & Arab Investors were net sellers for OMR89,000 followed by domestic investors for OMR51,000 worth of shares.

Financial index closed at 6,230.89 points, up 0.91%. Oman & Emirates, Al Madina Takaful, Gulf Investment, Bank Muscat and National Bank of Oman were up 4.17%, 3.75%, 2.7%, 1.90% and 1.82% respective­ly. Bank Nizwa was down by 1.16%.

Industrial index closed at 4,460.89 points, up 0.91%. Al Anwar Ceramic, Raysut Cement, Galfar Engineerin­g, Oman Cement and Oman Fisheries were by 3.19%, 3.13%, 2.5%, 1.9% and 1.20% respective­ly. There were no losers from the sector.

Services index closed up 0.61% at 1,841.23 points. Al Suwadi Power, Al Jazeera Service, National Gas, Muscat City Desalinati­on and OIFC were up by 5.88%, 4.31%, 4.00%, 2.80% and 2.70% respective­ly. Al Maha Petroleum and Renaissanc­e were down by 2.44% and 1.69% respective­ly.
