Active presence of BankDhofar at Salalah Tourism Festival events

MUSCAT: BankDhofar is the year’s gold sponsor of Salalah Tourism Festival 2019. The festival, which continues to August 22 hosts an exciting line-up of cultural and entertainment events and celebrates the unique heritage of Salalah.

The bank participated in sponsoring many events including Salalah Hackathon. The event, which took place during the period 1-3 August, aimed at helping the youth unleash their creative minds and capitalise on their creative ideas and solutions. The young developers, coders, graphic designers, data scientists, innovators, students, engineers, entrepreneurs, and scientists convene together to prototype and develop state-of-the-art smart solutions that would help to transform ‘Salalah City’ into a responsive and smart city.

Commenting on BankDhofar’s sponsorship Aziz Sulaiman Al Harrasi, Acting Head of Marketing and Corporate Communication Department said: “We are delighted to take part at Salalah Tourism Festival which is one of the biggest tourism events of the year showcasing Oman’s rich cultural history and its vast tourism potential and stunning beauty. Salalah Tourism Festival attracts large numbers of visitors from overseas and within the Sultanate every year. The event allows visitors to experience the unique climate of the Dhofar region and the cultural heritage and authentic Omani hospitality. Several events and social activities take place in Salalah during Khareef season.

Hackathon Salalah is a competition where the concept of Hackathon aims at involving the Omani community of developers, designers, innovators, students, entrepreneurs and any individual interested in solving real, complex and fuzzy industrial problems. The Hackathon philosophy of the platform is driven by either a specific issue or by city-based issues. Every year, the platform is committed to hosting one or more hackathon events by inviting the hackathon community to generate, pilot, and apply creative and transformative ideas to shape the specific city into a smart city or to offer smart and innovative solutions to nationwide burning issues.
