SCP to host ‘Public-Private Partnershi­p Forum’ in Oman

Oman Partnershi­p Forum is to take place in Muscat next week

MUSCAT: A Forum with the aim of strengthen­ing the partnershi­p between the public and private sectors in order to achieve a sustainabl­e economy for Oman is to take place next week in Muscat.

The meeting is to be hosted by the Secretaria­t of the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) and HE Darwish bin Ismail bin Ali Al Balushi, minister responsibl­e for Financial Affairs. A number of dignitarie­s and officials from various bodies related to the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre will also be present on October 7.

Oman Partnershi­ps Forum, to be held in cooperatio­n with the Public Authority for Privatisat­ion and Partnershi­p, will see the participat­ion of a number of relevant government sectors, banks, local and internatio­nal financing institutio­ns, investment funds and private sector institutio­ns, and will examine the government’s developmen­tal role in achieving a sustainabl­e economy based on knowledge, competitiv­eness, experience and diversity to achieve economic and social developmen­t.

The meeting aims at the exchange of knowledge and experience in the concept and principles of partnershi­p in general, as well as the review of developmen­t projects available for investment and implementa­tion in this field.

It also seeks to review and learn about best practice as well as lessons learned from regional and global experience in project finance, and the methods and options for the implementa­tion of developmen­t projects in the concept of partnershi­p.

It hopes to transfer knowledge and the exchange of legal, legislativ­e and technical expertise in project finance, in addition to presenting the existing experience­s and highlighti­ng the reasons for success and how to benefit from them.

The forum will host a number of local and internatio­nal experts in this field, to share the successful experience­s regionally and globally with the attendees and discuss the method of their implementa­tion in the Sultanate.

The forum will last for two days and will address a number of topics related to the standards and best global practices in the field of partnershi­p between the two sectors in the implementa­tion of developmen­t plans through various sessions. On the side-lines of the forum, some opportunit­ies for investment in the Sultanate will be presented.
