MSM index ends lower

The top gainer was Al Maha Petroleum which closed up by 10% while the top loser was Muscat Gases which closed down by 9.09%.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed down by 0.36% at 4,017.69 points. The Sharia Index closed down 0.55% at 541.25 points. Al Maha Petroleum, up 10.00%, was the top gainer. Muscat Gases down 9.09%, was the top loser. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of the number of shares as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 599 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR 2.46 million with more than 21.24 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded stocks, 14 advanced, 7 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR 161,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR 128,000 followed by local investors for OMR 34,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,557.59 points, down 0.35%. Ahli Bank, HSBC Oman, Al Omaniya Financial and National Bank of Oman were up by 1.64%, 1.57%, 1.04% and 0.54% respective­ly. OMINVEST, Bank Nizwa, Oman & Emirates Investment, Muscat Finance and Alizz Bank were down by 3.37%, 2.13%, 1.49%, 1.45% and 1.39% respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 4,405.05 points, up 0.47%. Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals, National Aluminium, Oman Chlorine, Oman Refreshmen­t and Dhofar Cattle Feed were up by 7.14%, 7.06%, 4.97%, 3.27% and 2.36% respective­ly. Oman Cement, Oman Fisheries and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 1.79%, 1.32% and 0.95% respective­ly.

Services index closed down 0.09% at 1,950.53 points. Al Maha Petroleum, Muscat City Desalinati­on and Sembcorp Salalah were up by 10.00%, 1.80%, and 1.59% respective­ly. Muscat Gases, SMN Power, Phoenix Power, Renaissanc­e Service and Oman National Engine were down by 9.09%, 7.89%, 5.56%, 3.85% and 2.86% respective­ly.
