MSM index ends higher

SMN Power, up 8.45 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Jazeera Steel, down 9.57 per cent, was the top loser.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed up by 0.10 per cent at 4,039.86 points. The Sharia Index closed down by 0.09 per cent at 539.57 points. SMN Power, up 8.45 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Jazeera Steel, down 9.57 per cent, was the top loser. Gulf Investment Service was the most active in terms of number of shares as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 775 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR2.04 million. Out of 42 traded stocks, 16 advanced, 8 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR92,000 while local investors were net sellers for OMR80,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR12,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,592.22 points, up 0.10 per cent. Ahlia Insurance, Oman & Emirates Investment, Oman United Insurance, National Bank of Oman and Gulf Investment were up by 5.88 per cent, 2.94 per cent, 1.99 per cent, 1.62 per cent, and 1.23 per cent respective­ly. Bank Dhofar and Al Madina Investment were down by 2.26 per cent and 1.23 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 4,389.91 points, down 0.72 per cent. Dhofar Cattle Feed Oman Fisheries, Constructi­on Material and Al Anwar Ceramic were up by 4.76 per cent, 3.85 per cent, 2.33 per cent and 0.96 per cent respective­ly. Al Jazeera Steel, Oman Cement and Galfar Engineerin­g were down by 9.57 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 1.22 per cent respective­ly.

Services index closed down 0.15 per cent at 1,949.55 points. SMN Power, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, OIFC and Omantel were up by 8.45 per cent, 2.90 per cent, 2.90 per cent, 2.42 per cent and 1.03 per cent respective­ly. National Gas, Phoenix Power and Renaissanc­e Service were down by 3.91 per cent, 3.53 per cent and 0.38 per cent respective­ly.
