CCED upskills Omani technicians to achieve IVQ Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Oil & Gas Operations
MUSCAT: CC Energy Development (CCED) Oman branch celebrated the success of 21 young Omanis who are the first in the GCC to achieve IVQ Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Oil and Gas Operations from company-sponsored training delivered by National Training Institute (NTI).
CCED is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company operating in Oman since 2007. Lindsay Ogilvy (Business Services Manager) commented, “We set out to achieve something not previously done in Oman; the uniqueness of our challenge being our need to deliver a development programme and an international qualification to an existing workforce while maintaining a healthy work-life balance of our field technicians working on rotational shifts.”
The Advanced Diploma in Oil and Gas Operations is awarded by City & Guilds, UK’s leading provider of vocational qualifications; offering awards across a wide range of industries, and progressing from entry-level to the highest levels of professional achievement. With over 8,500 centres in 100 countries, City & Guilds is recognised by employers worldwide for providing qualifications that offer proof of the skills they need to get the job done.
The first group of 167 Omanis are now registered and progressing towards an IVQ Advanced Diploma in Oil and Gas Operations for mechanical maintenance technicians, electrical maintenance technicians, instrument maintenance technicians and process technicians. To achieve an IVQ, candidates have to prove that they have the ability (competence) to carry out their job to the required standard.
Walter Simpson (MD) said: “It is our responsibility to invest in our workforce to contribute to the success and growth of CCED as well as equipping them with the skills, knowledge and confidence to do the job safely and accurately. We have come a long way and we must take time out to congratulate our successful colleagues. The passion for learning in CCED has been very evident and we will continue to celebrate many more successes and we will keep adding to the number of our colleagues who we take through this international qualification.”
