MSM index ends marginally higher

The top gainer was Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals which closed up by 10.00% while the top loser was Oman National Engineer which closed lower by 6.92%.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed at 4,087.10, up 0.03%. The Sharia Index closed down by 0.17% at 556.19 points. Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals, up 10.00%, was the top gainer. Oman National Engineer, down 6.92%, was the top loser. Galfar Engineerin­g was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Shell Oman Marketing was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 447 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR 1.71 million with more than 6.80 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 14 declined and 17 remained unchanged.

At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR206,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR 154,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for

OMR 51,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,517.59 points, down 0.12%. There were no gainers from Financial Sector. Oman & Emirates Investment, Al Omaniya Financial, Muscat Finance, Oman United Insurance and Al Madina Takaful were down by 2.90%, 1.96%, 1.64%, 1.30% and 1.22% respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 4,509.78 points, down 0.19%. Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals, Galfar Engineerin­g and Al Jazeera Steel were up by 10.0%, 1.28% and 0.74% respective­ly. Raysut Cement, Al Maha Ceramics and Oman Cement were down by 1.41%, 0.49% and 0.42% respective­ly. Services index closed up 0.20% at 1,956.53 points. Muscat City, Renaissanc­e Service, Dhofar Generating and Omantel were up by 2.83%, 2.36%, 1.03% and 0.65% respective­ly.
