MSM index ends marginally higher

The top gainer was Raysut Cement which closed up by 8.04% while the top loser was Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals which closed down by 9.66%.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed at 4,083.02, up 0.04 per cent. The Sharia Index closed up by 0.25 per cent at 557.04 points. Raysut Cement, up 8.04 per cent, was the top gainer. Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals, down 9.66 per cent, was the top loser. Al Anwar Ceramic was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Raysut Cement was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 691 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.8 million with more than 10.59 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 20 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR156,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR94,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR62,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,453.88 points, down 0.18 per cent. Ahli Bank was up by 0.77 per cent. Al Madina Takaful, Gulf Investment, Oman & Emirates, Al Sharqia Investment and Bank Nizwa were down by 4.55 per cent, 2.67 per cent, 1.45 per cent, 1.11 per cent and 1.06 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 4,613.62 points, up 1.11 per cent. Raysut Cement, Al Anwar Ceramic and Oman Cement were up by 8.04 per cent, 2.07 per cent and 1.22 per cent respective­ly. Gulf Internatio­nal, Dhofar Cattle Feed, Oman Fisheries, Al Jazeera Steel and Galfar Engineerin­g were down by 9.66 per cent, 4.07 per cent, 3.61%, 2.17% and 1.28% respective­ly.

Services index closed down 0.05% at 1,963.70 points. Al Jazeera Service and Renaissanc­e Service were up by 4.73% and 3.80% respective­ly. Oman National Engineer, OIFC, SMN Power, Al Batinah Power and Phoenix Power were down by 4.27%, 1.65%, 1.41%, 1.41% and 1.35% respective­ly.
