MSM index ends lower

The top gainer was Takaful Oman Insurance which up by 5.04% while the top loser was Al Jazeera Service which closed lower by 2.44%.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed at 4,014.04 down 0.09 per cent. The Sharia index closed down by 0.18 per cent at 548.73 per cent. Takaful Oman Insurance, up 5.04 per cent, was the top gainer. Al Jazeera Service, down 2.44 per cent, was the top loser. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

397 trades

A total number of 397 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR6.17 million with more than 24.77 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 13 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR569,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR308,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR261,000 worth of shares.

Financial index closed at 6,372.28 points, flat 0.00 per cent. Takaful Oman Insurance, Taageer Finance and Bank Muscat were up by 5.04 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.46 per cent respectively. Gulf Investment Service Holding was down by 1.41 per cent.

Industrial index

Industrial index closed at 4,464.47 points, down 0.18 per cent. No gainers from the industrial sector. Raysut Cement was down by 1.24 per cent.

Services index closed down 0.29 per cent at 1,927.45 points. Muscat Gases, Musandam Power and Muscat City were up by 3.03 per cent, 2.34 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively. Al Jazeera Service, Al Suwadi Power, Al Batinah Power, Phoenix Power and Renaissance Service were down by 2.44 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 1.24 per cent respectively.
