MSM index ends lower

The top gainer was Dhofar Generating Company which closed higher by 2.50 per cent while top loser was Al Batinah Power which closed lower by 4.76 per cent

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed at 4,012.19 down 0.19 per cent. The Sharia index closed up by 0.01 per cent at 548.77. Dhofar Generating Company, up 2.50 per cent, was the top gainer. Al Batinah Power, down 4.76 per cent, was the top loser. Al Anwar Holding was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 278 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.75 million with more than 16.61 million shares changing hands. Out of 31 traded stocks, 2 advanced, 12 declined and 17 remained unchanged.

At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR13,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR13,000 followed by Local investors for OMR1,000 worth of shares. Financial index closed at 6,369.38 points, down 0.11 per cent. No gainers from the financial sector. Al Sharqia Investment and HSBC Oman were down by 2.27 per cent and 0.80 per cent respectively.

Industrial index closed at 4,461.52 points, down 0.29 per cent. No gainers from the industrial sector. Al Jazeera Steel Products, Galfar Engineering, Oman Fisheries, Raysut Cement and Dhofar Cattle Feed were down by 3.08 per cent, 1.30 per cent, 1.25 per cent, 0.80 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively.

Services index closed down 0.28 per cent at 1,924.14 points respectively. Dhofar Generating Company and Sembcorp Salalah were up by 2.50 per cent and 0.79 per cent respectively. Al Batinah Power, SMN Power, Renaissance Service.
