MSM index ends lower

The top gainer was Sahara Hospitalit­y which closed higher by 9.88% while the top loser was Global Financial Investment which closed lower by 9.33%.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed at 3,874.87 down by 0.63 per cent. The Sharia index closed down by 0.24 per cent at 532.98. Sahara Hospitalit­y, up 9.88 per cent, was the top gainer while Global Financial Investment down 9.33 per cent, was the top loser. Global Financial Investment was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as turnover.

A total number of 263 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.02 million with more than 19.67 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded stocks, 2 advanced, 17 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, Local investors were net buyers for OMR549,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR520,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR29,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,113.01 points, down 0.76 per cent. No Gainers from the financial sector. Global Financial Investment, Gulf Investment, Muscat Finance, Sohar Internatio­nal Bank and Al Anwar Holding were down by 9.33 per cent, 7.94 per cent, 3.70 per cent, 2.78 per cent and 2.56 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial index closed at 4,243.95 points, down by 0.50 per cent. No gainers from the Industrial sector. Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals, Galfar Engineerin­g, Oman Cement, Oman Fisheries and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 8.33 per cent, 2.90 per cent, 1.32 per cent, 1.25 per cent and 0.79 per cent respective­ly.

Services index closed down 0.45 per cent at 1,882.55 points.
