MSM index ends lower

Top gainer was Oman Fisheries which closed higher by 7.50% while the top loser was Dhofar Generating which closed lower 9.76%.

MUSCAT: The MSM30 index closed at 3,660.33 points, down 0.58 per cent. The Sharia Index closed down 0.48 per cent at 510.37 points. Oman Fisheries, up 7.50 per cent, was the top gainer while Dhofar Generating, down 9.76 per cent was the top loser. Oman Fisheries was the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 355 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.7 million with more than 24.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 15 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR382,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR376,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR6,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed down by 0.18 per cent at 5744.92 points today. Gulf Investment and Al Anwar Holding were up by 1.96 per cent and 1.59 per cent respective­ly. Oman Qatar Insurance, Al Madina Investment, Bank Nizwa, Sohar Internatio­nal Bank and Bank Dhofar were down by 5.88 per cent, 4.35 per cent, 2.2 per cent, 2.17 per cent and 1.89 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index was down 0.18 per cent at 4,030.37 points. Oman Fisheries was up by 7.50 per cent. Oman Cement, Galfar Engineerin­g and Raysut Cement were down by 3.60 per cent, 2.0 per cent and 1.14 per cent respective­ly.

Services index was down 0.82 per cent at 1,735.39 points. OIFC was up by 1.08 per cent. Dhofar Generating, Al Jazeera Service, Omantel and Ooredoo were down by 9.76 per cent, 4.0 per cent, 0.65 per cent and 0.46 per cent respective­ly.
