Galfar’s Opal Roadworthiness Assurance Standard Inspection Centre inaugurated
MUSCAT: Opal is the first society in Oman’s petroleum industry to be officially approved and registered in the Sultanate embarked on a vision to promote industry standards and aims to strengthen its services through a single platform to agree and promote standards of work, to increase competencies and professionalism.
Roadworthiness Assurance Standards (RAS) is a standard set by the oil and gas sector to ensure safety and roadworthiness of all vehicles used in the industry via a structured inspection scheme of processes where vehicle examination is performed at an approved RAS inspection centre and all vehicles in these operations comply with the requirements of the latest version of Opal Road Safety Standard. The approved RAS centres will be entitled to issue a unified Opal RAS sticker to the certified vehicles and that is recognised by all the operating companies in the oil and gas.
Galfar Engineering and Contracting has been approved by Opal as Roadworthiness Assurance Standard Inspection Centre (RASIC), to carry out Roadworthiness Assurance Standard inspection services for all Vehicles at Base workshop, Al Khoud starting from 23/03/2021.
Under the auspices of Dr Hamoud Al Tobi, CEO at Galfar Engineering and Contracting, saw the inauguration of the Galfar Base workshop, Al Khoud Opal Roadworthiness Assurance Standard Inspection Center (RASIC) on April 8. The facility is well equipped with Inspectors and the latest apparatuses approved by Opal, to conduct the required Roadworthiness Assurance Standard inspection.
