Employment training programme receives good response from Omani jobseekers
MUSCAT: Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group), the executive arm of the Sultanate for tourism development, announced that its recently launched training for employment programme, ‘Midhyaf’, saw a significant turnout from Omani jobseekers, with over 2,000 job applications received since the launch of the programme on July 1, till date.
The programme is part of Oman Investment Authority’s (OIA) initiative to provide over 4,800 job and training opportunities within its owned companies, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour.
This substantial turnout in the first phase of the programme reflects the interest of Omani youth to work in the tourism and hospitality sector and be qualified to enrol in the programme which will expose them to several stages and professional disciplines, to ultimately succeed and thrive in this dynamic sector.
All submitted applications will be subject to an evaluation and selection process after the registration process is completed on July 22. For the participant to qualify for the programme, they must meet the registration requirements, accept the training and work requirements and pass the interviews and personal performance tests.
The registration requirements for the programme include being a high school graduate or holding a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree, being registered as a jobseeker at the Ministry of Labour, not above 30 years of age and should not have benefited from similar training programmes provided by the Ministry of Labour.
The programme will include professional training courses that will be offered by Oman Tourism College in cooperation with a number of the world’s most prestigious hospitality academies and institutes, including the Saudi Academy of Culinary Arts ‘ZADK’, the British Butler Institute, the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), LobsterInk Institute, and the Highfield Institute. For the aim of qualifying Omani talents as per the highest standards and to ensure that they obtain accredited specialised certificates, up to 11 professional certificates, according to the type of training programme.
