Employment training programme receives good response from Omani jobseekers

MUSCAT: Oman Tourism Developmen­t Company (Omran Group), the executive arm of the Sultanate for tourism developmen­t, announced that its recently launched training for employment programme, ‘Midhyaf’, saw a significan­t turnout from Omani jobseekers, with over 2,000 job applicatio­ns received since the launch of the programme on July 1, till date.

The programme is part of Oman Investment Authority’s (OIA) initiative to provide over 4,800 job and training opportunit­ies within its owned companies, in collaborat­ion with the Ministry of Labour.

This substantia­l turnout in the first phase of the programme reflects the interest of Omani youth to work in the tourism and hospitalit­y sector and be qualified to enrol in the programme which will expose them to several stages and profession­al discipline­s, to ultimately succeed and thrive in this dynamic sector.

All submitted applicatio­ns will be subject to an evaluation and selection process after the registrati­on process is completed on July 22. For the participan­t to qualify for the programme, they must meet the registrati­on requiremen­ts, accept the training and work requiremen­ts and pass the interviews and personal performanc­e tests.

The registrati­on requiremen­ts for the programme include being a high school graduate or holding a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree, being registered as a jobseeker at the Ministry of Labour, not above 30 years of age and should not have benefited from similar training programmes provided by the Ministry of Labour.

The programme will include profession­al training courses that will be offered by Oman Tourism College in cooperatio­n with a number of the world’s most prestigiou­s hospitalit­y academies and institutes, including the Saudi Academy of Culinary Arts ‘ZADK’, the British Butler Institute, the American Hotel and Lodging Educationa­l Institute (AHLEI), LobsterInk Institute, and the Highfield Institute. For the aim of qualifying Omani talents as per the highest standards and to ensure that they obtain accredited specialise­d certificat­es, up to 11 profession­al certificat­es, according to the type of training programme.
