MSX index ends lower

The MSX index closed at 4,085.53 points, down 0.04 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index down 0.07 per cent at 597.40 points. Salalah Mills, up 7.34 per cent, was the top gainer while Global Investment Holding, down 5.63 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Oman & Qatar Insurance was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as turnover.

A total number of 628 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.8 million, with more than 18.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 52 traded stocks, 11 advanced, 23 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net sellers for OMR286,000 million while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR199,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR87,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,519.50 points, up by 0.08 per cent. Prices of Oman & Qatar Insurance, Dhofar Insurance, National Bank Oman, Al Omaniya Financial Services and Bank

Muscat were up 5.81 per cent, 2.63 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 1.64 per cent and 1.33 per cent respective­ly. Global Investment Holding, Al Madina Investment, United Finance, Ahli Bank and Al Sharqia Investment were down 5.63 per cent, 4.17 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 2.65 per cent and 1.85 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 5,939.94 points, up 0.20 per cent. Prices of Salalah Mills and Jazeera Steel Product were up 7.34 per cent and 1.55 per cent respective­ly. Voltamp Energy, Al Anwar Ceramics, Al Maha Ceramics and Oman Cement were down 4.83 per cent, 1.67 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 0.40 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index was down by 0.39 per cent before closing at 1,745.00 points. Al Suwadi Power and Renaissanc­e Services were up 1.85 per cent and 0.92 per cent respective­ly. Al Jazeera Services, Oman Investment & Financials, Sembcorp Salalah, Muscat desalinate and Oman National Engineerin­g were down 2.38 per cent, 1.57 per cent, 1.19 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 1.06 per cent respective­ly.
