ICAI Muscat Chapter celebrates CA Day and Internatio­nal Yoga Day

MUSCAT: The Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of India (ICAI), the second-largest accounting body in the globe, celebrated CA Day globally on July 1.

The Muscat Chapter of ICAI also celebrated the day, which showcased participat­ion from other GCC Chapters (UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia) along with the current President, Vice President and several Past Presidents of ICAI. Events were conducted online and the dignitarie­s acknowledg­ed the contributi­ons of Chartered Accountant­s to the economy of the Sultanate and the Middle East.

The Chapter also extended support to the community through blood donation drives in Muscat and Sohar on July 2-3. The members joined in large numbers along with their families and friends to participat­e in this noble cause.

The Chapter also celebrated ‘Internatio­nal Yoga Day’ jointly with Kuwait Chapter over three days. It was inaugurate­d by Smita Jayakar, a veteran Indian actress, who gave a talk on “Digital Fatigue”. This was followed by a yoga session led by CA Siddharth Satapathy and Subhashree Satapathy, certified Yoga instructor­s at Art of Living, Oman. The usefulness of yoga and various yogic postures were explained, followed by a guided meditation session to relax the body and mind. Finally, Prema Nagesh, founder of Vyaniti Yoga, demonstrat­ed breathing techniques to improve lung capacity and develop immunity for COVID-19.

CA Ravi Deora, Chairman of ICAI Muscat Chapter said, “The Chapter is conducting several events for the continuing profession­al developmen­t of members. Apart from profession­al and technical events, the managing committee is organising wellness events to promote better health and reduce strain and stress in these challengin­g times of the pandemic.”

Anis Al Lawati, Acting Dean of CBFS said, “CBFS is happy to sponsor the Muscat Chapter of ICA. Omani accounting profession­als are always encouraged to join their events and to update their knowledge on various current topics.”
