ICAI Muscat Chapter celebrates CA Day and International Yoga Day
MUSCAT: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the second-largest accounting body in the globe, celebrated CA Day globally on July 1.
The Muscat Chapter of ICAI also celebrated the day, which showcased participation from other GCC Chapters (UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia) along with the current President, Vice President and several Past Presidents of ICAI. Events were conducted online and the dignitaries acknowledged the contributions of Chartered Accountants to the economy of the Sultanate and the Middle East.
The Chapter also extended support to the community through blood donation drives in Muscat and Sohar on July 2-3. The members joined in large numbers along with their families and friends to participate in this noble cause.
The Chapter also celebrated ‘International Yoga Day’ jointly with Kuwait Chapter over three days. It was inaugurated by Smita Jayakar, a veteran Indian actress, who gave a talk on “Digital Fatigue”. This was followed by a yoga session led by CA Siddharth Satapathy and Subhashree Satapathy, certified Yoga instructors at Art of Living, Oman. The usefulness of yoga and various yogic postures were explained, followed by a guided meditation session to relax the body and mind. Finally, Prema Nagesh, founder of Vyaniti Yoga, demonstrated breathing techniques to improve lung capacity and develop immunity for COVID-19.
CA Ravi Deora, Chairman of ICAI Muscat Chapter said, “The Chapter is conducting several events for the continuing professional development of members. Apart from professional and technical events, the managing committee is organising wellness events to promote better health and reduce strain and stress in these challenging times of the pandemic.”
