MSX index ends lower

A’Saffa Foods, up 9.84 per cent, was the top gainer while, Gulf Mushroom Products, down 2.42 per cent, was the top loser

MUSCAT: The MSX index closed at 4,144 points, down by 0.04 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.04 per cent at 470.73 points. A’Saffa Foods, up 9.84 per cent, was the top gainer while, Gulf Mushroom Products, down 2.42 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineerin­g were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 417 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.67 million, with more than 7.97 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded securities, 11 advanced, 6 declined, and 24 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers of OMR76,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR19,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,584.14 points, down 0.19 per cent. Prices of Muscat Finance, Oman & Emirates Investment and Al Sharqia Investment were up by 1.37 per cent, 1.16 per cent and 1.11 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Al Anwar Investment and Ahli Bank were down by 2.41 per cent and 1.67 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 6,098.7 points, up 0.32 per cent. Prices of A’Saffa Foods, Galfar Engineerin­g, Raysut Cement and Jazeera Steel Products were up by 9.84 per cent, 2.75 per cent, 1.2 per cent and 0.54 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Gulf Mushroom Products and National Aluminium were down by 2.4 per cent and 1.14 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index was up by 0.01 per cent before closing at 1,619.3 points. Prices of SMN Power Holding, Muscat Desalinati­on and Oman Telecom were up by 2.27 per cent, 1.68 per cent and 0.47 per cent respective­ly.
