Zubair Corporation sponsors forum for Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The Zubair Corporation sponsored a forum for the DHH-Deaf and Hard of Hearing in collaboration with Vertex Business Solutions & Al Massa.
The forum was an opportunity to highlight some of the challenges faced by the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in Oman and to call for further recognition of their social status and welfare access. This forum sponsorship is an integral part of The Zubair Corporation’s CSR strategy to support the socioeconomic development of Oman.
It was held under the auspices of Sheikh Nasr bin Amer Al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour. The forum held under a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Labour, and with the support of The Zubair Corporation, Tanmia and Octal, this is the first time that an event has been exclusively organised to encourage and support DHH individuals and business owners and corporates.
The forum included several panel discussions focusing on ways to empower people identifying as deaf or with a hearing impairment. The focus was on the influence of the private sector specifically and how companies can provide further job opportunities with flexible requirements to ensure more inclusion and diversity in the workplace. As part of the forum, several working papers were published with recommendations to improve the access to employment and Education for deaf and hard of hearing people.
