MSX index ends lower

National Finance, up 10 per cent, was the top gainer while Phoenix Power, down by 5 per cent, was the top loser

The MSX index closed at 4,750.26 points, down by 0.26 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.67 per cent at 487.55 points. National Finance, up 10 per cent, was the top gainer while Phoenix Power, down 5 per cent, was the top loser.

Shares of Al Suwadi Power were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 459 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.21 million, with more than 10.93 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded securities, 16 advanced, 11 declined, and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR206,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR195,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR12,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,628.53 points, down 0.2 per cent. Prices of National Finance, Takaful Oman, Dhofar Insurance, Bank Nizwa, and Al Anwar Investment were up by 10.00 per cent, 7.90 per cent, 2.50 per cent, 2.04 per cent and 1.25 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Bank Dhofar, Al Omaniya Financial Services, Sohar Internatio­nal Bank and National Bank Oman were down by 5.44 per cent, 1.38 per cent, 0.97 per cent and 0.35 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 5,861.27 points, down 0.07 per cent. Prices of Voltamp Energy was up by 5.44 per cent respective­ly. Prices of A’Saffa Foods, Oman Fisheries, Oman Chromite and Galfar Engineerin­g were down by 2.44 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 0.83 per cent and 0.56 per cent respective­ly.
