MSX index ends lower

Al Batinah Power, up 5.71 per cent, was the top gainer while Phoenix Power, down 5.26 per cent, was the top loser

The MSX index closed at 4,703.38 points, down by 0.99 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.21 per cent at 486.52 points. Al Batinah Power, up 5.71 per cent, was the top gainer while Phoenix Power, down 5.26 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of United Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 443 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.63 million, with more than 14.83 million shares changing hands.

Out of 37 traded securities, 7 advanced, 16 declined, and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR116,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR102,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR14,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,550.17 points, down 1.03 per cent. Prices of Global Financial Investment­s and Ominvest were up by 1.72 per cent and 0.48 per cent respective­ly.

Prices of National Bank Oman, Bank Dhofar, Al Omaniya Financial Services, United Finance, and Al Anwar Investment were down by 1.82 per cent, 3.23 per cent, 2.10 per cent, 1.61 per cent and 1.24 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 5,855.01 points, down 0.11 per cent. Prices of Jazeera Steel Products, National Aluminium and Oman Refreshmen­t were up by 1.82 per cent, 1.56 per cent and 0.81 per cent respective­ly.

Prices of Oman Fisheries, Raysut Cement and Al Anwar Ceramics were down by 3.30 per cent, 2.31 per cent and 0.58 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index was down by 0.62 per cent before closing at 1,681.78 points. Prices of Al Batinah Power and Al Suwadi Power were up by 5.71 per cent and 2.86 per cent respective­ly.

Prices of Phoenix Power, Renaissanc­e Services, SMN Power Holding, OIFC, and Ooredoo were down by 5.26 per cent, 2.22%, 1.82 per cent, 0.79 per cent and 0.46 per cent respective­ly.
