HM THE SULTAN’S OFFICIAL VISIT TO EGYPT

His Majesty the Sultan, accompanie­d by the Egyptian President, boarded the motorcade that took them over to the Al-Ittihadiya Palace

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Sunday arrived in the Arab Republic of Egypt on a two-day official visit.

When His Majesty the Sultan’s plane touched ground at Cairo Internatio­nal Airport, President Abdul Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt headed the welcoming party that greeted His Majesty the Sultan at the foot of the ramp.

Also present at the reception were Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representa­tive to the Arab League and members of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Egypt.

Then, His Majesty the Sultan and the Egyptian President headed to the Hall of Ceremonies, passing between two rows of honorary guards from the Egyptian Republican Guard.

After a short rest at the ceremonial hall, His Majesty the Sultan, accompanie­d by the Egyptian President, boarded the motorcade that took them over to the Al-Ittihadiya Palace, flanked by a group of motorcycle­s from the Egyptian Republican Guard. There, an official reception ceremony was conducted in honour of His Majesty the Sultan.

Upon the arrival of the two leaders’ motorcade at main gate of Al-Ittihadiya Palace, trumpets were sounded and a group of horsemen lined up, while the artillery fired a 21-gun salute to His Majesty the Sultan.

Then, the Egyptian President accompanie­d His Majesty the Sultan to the dais of honour, where the Omani Royal Anthem and the Egyptian Republican Anthem were played. After that, His Majesty the Sultan, accompanie­d by the Egyptian President inspected the Guard of Honour, which saluted His Majesty. After that, souvenir photos were taken of His Majesty the Sultan and President El-Sisi.

Then, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with dignitarie­s from the Egyptian side, which comprised General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Minister, Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of the General Intelligen­ce, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Developmen­t, Dr. Mohamed Moait, Minister of Finance, Dr. Assem Al Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communitie­s (Head of the Mission of Honour), Eng. Ahmed

Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry, Khalid Radi, Ambassador of Egypt to Oman and Ahmed Fahmy, Spokesman of the Presidency.

Meanwhile, President Abdul Fattah El-Sisi shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanyi­ng His Majesty the Sultan.

HM The Sultan Heads to Egypt

Earlier in the day, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik left on Sunday heading to the Arab Republic of Egypt on an official two-day visit, during which he will meet President Abdul Fattah el Sisi.

The visit, made in response to an invitation by the Egyptian President, reflects the advance historical relations between the two countries.
