MSX index ends higher
Al Omaniya Financial Services, up 9.84 per cent, was the top gainer while Barka Water & Power Company, down 8.33 per cent, was the top loser in Sunday’s trading session
The MSX index closed at 4,713.92 points, up by 0.37 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.02 per cent at 469.94 points. Al Omaniya Financial Services, up 9.84 per cent, was the top gainer while Barka Water & Power Company, down 8.33 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 402 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.41 million, with more than 6.39 million shares changing hands. Out of 52 traded securities, 16 advanced, 14 declined, and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR120,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR79,000, followed by domestic investors for OMR42,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,654.24 points, up 0.82 per cent. Prices of Al Omaniya Financial Services, Taageer Finance, Ahli Bank, National Bank Oman and Oman United Insurance were up by 9.84 per cent, 3.41 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 2.50 per cent and 0.38 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Madina Investments, Al Anwar Investment, Muscat Finance, United Finance and Sohar International Bank were up by 4.76 per cent, 2.25 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.70 per cent and 0.97 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,086.08 points, up 0.2 per cent. Prices of Construction Materials, Dhofar Cattle Feed, Raysut Cement, Voltamp Energy and Galfar Engineering were up by 7.14 per cent, 3.18 per cent, 2.92 per cent, 1.82 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively.
Prices of Jazeera Steel Products, Al Anwar Ceramics and Oman Cables Industry were up by 1.36 per cent 0.70 per cent and 0.26 per cent respectively.
Services Index was down by 0.2 per cent before closing at 1,702.40 points. Prices of SMN Power Holding, Muscat Desalination and Oman Telecom were up by 1.18 per cent, 1.03 per cent and 0.41 per cent respectively. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah and Ooredoo were up by 1.96 per cent and 0.55 per cent respectively.
