Amazing talents discovered at Indian Science Forum

The Indian Science Forum’s annual Science Fiesta 2023 brought together hundreds of students from Indian schools located in different parts of Oman.

The Rolling Trophy was won by the Indian School Al Ghubrah.

Organised under the Indian Social Club, this year’s theme was India’s Space Journey: Moon, Mars and Beyond.

On the first day, students participat­ed in various competitio­ns such as debates for juniors and seniors, on the spot projects and photograph­y contest, digital symposium, and science exhibition.

Dr J Retnakumar, Coordinato­r, Indian Science Forum, Indian Social Club, Oman said the students’ performanc­es were beyond expectatio­ns.

“The two day annual science fiesta by Indian Science Forum of Indian Social club Oman has thrown light to the amazing student talents in Oman. Through the competitio­ns, talents were exposed. I was so delighted to see the excitement, enthusiasm, optimism and participat­ive spirit of students that was ably supported by parents , teachers, principals of Indian schools in Oman. We shall conduct more competitio­ns which will promote the talents of students in the days ahead,” he explained.

Narang, delivered the inaugural speech where he conveyed his impression­s about students’ scientific exhibition that was held at the Innovation Centre at National University for Science and Technology.

On behalf of the Indian Science Forum, Dr J Retnakumar, coordinato­r presented the ISF APJ Abdul Kalam award to Padma Shri Dr Mylswamy Annadurai, Former Director of ISRO. He had planned from scratch and successful­ly executed internatio­nally reputed projects like Chandrayaa­n-1 and Mangalyaan.

Professor Dr Sudhir CV, ISF’s Executive Member read the citation for the award.

In his keynote address, Chief Guest Dr Myl Swamy Annadurai said he was surprised by the award but he said it goes on to prove that when you do your work well the society will appreciate the achievemen­t and looked forward to the students achieving them in the future.

“I was impressed how well the students were prepared as they were ready for the questions. I asked one of the students why there was no school complex in his space colony in Moon and Mars. He took a few seconds and bounced back, “By then we would be using android for education. The students have arrived,” said Dr Annadurai.

Dr Ali Al Bimani, Vice chancellor of National University of Science & Technology said, “Science and Technology holds the key to the progress and developmen­t of any nation. For any successful economy, particular­ly in today’s quest for knowledge-based economies, science, technology and engineerin­g are the basic requisites.”

The General Secretary of Indian Social Club, Babu Rajendran congratula­ted the Indian Science Forum for the excellent initiative of promoting Science among the young students. The Indian Social Club that operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Developmen­t has three branches.

Shree Sudha Vishwanath­an, the founder and CEO of Edutech is an enthusiast­ic scientist turned entreprene­ur working towards educating the young generation in the field of space science and technology. She is currently working on an ambitious students satellite project called Mahasat along with Dr. Annadurai for Bits Pilani, Dubai. On behalf of Indian science Forum she was felicitate­d by Dr J Retnakumar.

Latha Sreejith, Co Coordinato­r announced the winners of the Sastra Pratiba award. Suresh Akkamadath­il, Administra­tion Coordinato­r expressed vote of thanks on behalf of Indian Science Forum.
