MSX index ends higher

Al Anwar Investment, up 8.14 per cent, was the top gainer while Arabia Falcon Insurance, down 9.84 per cent, was the top loser

MUSCAT: The MSX index closed at 4,642.40 points, up by 0.26 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.38 per cent at 467.88 points. Al Anwar Investment, up 8.14 per cent, was the top gainer while Arabia Falcon Insurance, down 9.84 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Investment were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Shell Oman Marketing were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 692 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.91 million, with more than 9.37 million shares changing hands. Out of 56 traded securities, 27 advanced, 13 declined, and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR176,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR136,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR40,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,581.72 points, up 0.46 per cent Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Al Madina Investment­s, Oman & Emirates Investment, Muscat Finance and Al Madina Takaful were up by 8.14 per cent, 7.69 per cent, 5.63 per cent, 3.57 per cent and 2.41 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Arabia Falcon Insurance, Ahli Bank, Taageer Finance and Oman Arab Bank were up by 9.84 per cent, 1.62 per cent, 1.10 per cent and 0.66 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 6,010.29 points, up 0.03 per cent. Prices of Muscat Thread Mill, Raysut Cement, Oman Cement, Oman Cables Industry and Voltamp Energy were up by 3.77 per cent, 2.94 per cent, 2.50 per cent, 2.07 per cent and 1.98 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Oman Flour Mills, Oman Chromite, Al Anwar Ceramics and Galfar Engineerin­g were up by 5.09 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 2.14 per cent and 1.61 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index was up by 1.89% before closing at 1,705.10 points. Prices of Al Maha Marketing, Phoenix Power, SMN Power Holding and OIFC, National Gas were up by 5.09 per cent, 4.92 per cent, 4.82 per cent, 3.85 per cent and 3.03 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Renaissanc­e Services, Muscat Desalinati­on and Majan College were up by 1.04 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.79 per cent respective­ly.
