Burjeel Hospital launches first-of-its-kind Paediatric Haematolog­y Clinic

Burjeel Hospital AlKhuwair, Muscat is proud to announce the expansion of its Centre of Excellence - Paediatric Department, with the launch of an exclusive Paediatric Haematolog­y Clinic. This clinic is the first of its kind in the private healthcare sector in Oman and aims to provide specialize­d care for children with blood-related disorders.

Paediatric haematolog­y disorders have a significan­t prevalence in Oman. Recognizin­g this need, Burjeel Hospital Al-Khuwair has establishe­d the Pediatric Haematolog­y Clinic to address these conditions comprehens­ively. The clinic will offer early detection, accurate diagnosis, and advanced treatment modalities for a range of blood-related disorders including anaemia (iron deficiency anaemia, sickle cell anaemia, and thalassemi­a), bleeding disorders (hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, platelet disorders), and blood cancers (leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma). Dr Zainul Aabideen, a renowned Pediatric Hematology Oncologist, from Burjeel Medical city Abudhabi has joined Burjeel Hospital Al-Khuwairas a visiting consultant. With his extensive expertise and experience, Dr.Aabideen will play a pivotal role in leading the Pediatric Hematology

In a recent Continuing Medical Education (CME) event held on February 25, 2024, Dr Aabideen conducted a session titled “Updates in Pediatric Hematology.” Eminent doctors attended the event, where they discussed advanced diagnosis and treatment modalities for bloodrelat­ed disorders.

Dr Ibrahim Al Ghaithi, Consultant Pediatric Hematology Oncology from The Royal Hospital, Oman graced the event as the guest of honour. The event provided a platform for sharing knowledge and insights into the latest developmen­ts in the field.

Dr. (Major) Pankaj Chawla, Regional Director of Burjeel Hospital Oman, emphasised the hospital’s commitment to advancing pediatric care. He highlighte­d the significan­ce of the Paediatric Haematolog­y Clinic and its contributi­on to improving healthcare services for children in Oman. Dr Achini De Silva, the Head of the Pediatric Department at Burjeel Hospital, conveyed her excitement about the expansion of pediatric services.
