Bank Muscat extends support to Fak Kurba initiative to resolve 260 humanitari­an cases

Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, has announced its support for the Fak Kurba initiative organised by the Omani Lawyers Associatio­n in coordinati­on with the Ministry of Social Developmen­t and the Supreme Judicial Council.

For this year, the Bank supported 260 cases who have been jailed or convicted for failing to clear financial obligation­s.

Bank Muscat is participat­ing for the 7th consecutiv­e year to support the Fak Kurba initiative and has helped secure the release of 1,557 cases till date.

It must be noted that none of these cases relate to payments involving banks or financing institutio­ns in the Sultanate.

The Fak Kurba initiative is implemente­d through the voluntary efforts of the Omani Lawyers Associatio­n. The initiative has contribute­d to resolving many cases and succeeded in bringing joy and happiness to many Omani families. It aims to enhance awareness of the importance of community bonding and it is working since its start to transform this initiative into a sustainabl­e project that runs throughout the year.

On this occasion, Dr. Muhammad Bin Ibrahim Al-Zadjali, Chairman of the Oman Lawyers Associatio­n, said: “The 11th edition of the Fak Kurba initiative is a continuati­on of the positive results it has been achieving since its launch in 2012. Throughout these years, the initiative contribute­d to the release of more than 5890 cases. We are pleased with the continuous support given to the initiative from individual­s and institutio­ns, reflecting the strength of cooperatio­n in society. I would like to take this opportunit­y to extend my appreciati­on to all contributo­rs for their partnershi­p with the Associatio­n to ensure the success of this initiative. I would like as well to thank Bank Muscat for its partnershi­p and contributi­on to make this initiative a success.”
