MSX index ends lower

Oman Education & Training, up 9.88 per cent, was the top gainer while, Oman Cables Industry, down 7.17 per cent, was the top loser

MUSCAT: The MSX index closed at 4,697.87 points, down by 0.13 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.25 per cent at 442.57 points. Oman Education & Training, up 9.88 per cent, was the top gainer while, Oman Cables Industry, down 7.17 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Sohar Internatio­nal Bank were the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Oman Cables Industry were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 741 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR3.12 million, with more than 12.95 million shares changing hands. Out of 53 traded securities, 13 advanced, 22 declined, and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR293,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR245,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR48,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,624.86 points, up 0.05%. Prices of Global Financial Investment­s, Oman United Insurance, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Nizwa, Sohar Internatio­nal Bank were up by 2.86 per cent, 2.13 per cent, 1.22 per cent, 1.02 per cent, 0.82 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Muscat Finance, Taageer Finance, Bank Dhofar, National Bank Oman were down by 1.96 per cent, 1.87 per cent, 1.25 per cent, 1.18 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 5,707.46 points, down 1.1 per cent. Prices of Al Hassan Engineerin­g, Al Maha Ceramics, Oman Cement were up by 4.55 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 0.54 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Oman Cables Industry, Voltamp Energy, Raysut Cement, Al Anwar Ceramics, Galfar Engineerin­g were down by 7.17 per cent, 2.57 per cent, 2.40 per cent, 1.66 per cent, 1.42 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index was down by 0.59 per cent before closing at 1,828.79 points. Prices of Oman Education & Training, Barka Water & Power Company, Ooredoo, Oman Telecom were up by 9.88 per cent, 1.43 per cent, 1.01 per cent, 0.19 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Oman Oil Marketing, Dhofar Generating, Renaissanc­e Services, National Gas, Sharqiyah Desalinati­on were down by 4.44 per cent, 3.61 per cent, 2.67 per cent, 2.35 per cent, 2.26 per cent respective­ly.
