Internatio­nal conference on Innovation in IT and Business organised

MUSCAT: The Department of Mathematic­s and Computer Science at the Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) organised the second internatio­nal conference on Innovation in Informatio­n Technology and Business on April 29 and 30.

This event was organised in collaborat­ion with two reputed internatio­nal universiti­es; Singidunum University, Serbia and Christ University, India.

The hybrid mode of the event started with a grand opening ceremony at MCBS Campus. Eng. Bader Bin Saud Al Zaidi, CEOVodafon­e, Oman was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Dr Moosa Al Kindi, Dean, MCBS delivered the inaugural speech, followed by a keynote speech on ‘ Machine Learning’ delivered by Eng. Ahmed Al Saidi, Senior Specialist in Data Science, Vodofone, Oman.

A Panel Discussion on ‘ ‘Machine Learning - its capabiliti­es, limitation­s, ethical implicatio­ns, and societal impact’ was moderated by Dr Abdullah Al-Zakwani, Executive Director, Research &

Innovation, Lamad. The panel comprised Laila Al Hadhrami, Executive Director, Smart Sustainabl­e Cities Advisor, Dr Haider Al-Lawati, Sr. Manager - Artificial Intelligen­ce, Oman Data Park and Nasr Al-Nabhani, Chief Executive Officer, Tatweer Cybersecur­ity as its members.

Dr Nebojsa Becanin, vice-rector for scientific research at vicerector for scientific research at Singidunum University, Serbia delivered a keynote speech on ‘Swarm Intelligen­ce ‘ on the second day of the conference. The conference mainly focused on innovative ideas, approaches, research, and developmen­ts in the areas of Artificial Intelligen­ce, Block Chain Cyber Security and Data Analytics. More than 50 speakers from several countries presented their research findings at this conference either face to face or virtually. Many meritoriou­s students also found a place at this conference. They presented their research findings at the conference to make the event extremely successful.
