MSX index ends lower

Oman Arab Bank, up 4.00 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Maha Marketing, down 6.98 per cent, was the top loser

The MSX index closed at 4,769.56 points, down by 0.19 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.08 per cent at 450.11 points. Oman Arab Bank, up 4.00 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Maha Marketing, down 6.98 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Oman Arab Bank were the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Abraj Energy Services were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 739 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR2.56 million, with more than 13.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 8 advanced, 20 declined, and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR527,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR505,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR22,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,706.79 points, up 0.24 per cent. Prices of Oman Arab Bank, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Nizwa were up by 4.00 per cent, 1.24 per cent, 1.00 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Al Sharqia Investment, Oman & Emirates Investment, Takaful Oman, Oman United Insurance, Ominvest were down by 2.60 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.06 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 5,903.60 points, down 0.42 per cent. Prices of A’Saffa Foods were up by 1.32 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Muscat Thread Mill, Voltamp Energy, Galfar Engineerin­g, Jazeera Steel Products, Al Anwar Ceramics were down by 3.19 per cent, 2.41 per cent, 1.74 per cent, 1.01 per cent, 0.55 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index was down by 0.96 per cent before closing at 1,798.91 points. Prices of Al Suwadi Power, SMN Power Holding, Abraj Energy, Oman Telecom were up by 1.30 per cent, 0.61 per cent, 0.34 per cent, 0.10 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Al Maha Marketing, National Gas, Sembcorp Salalah, Phoenix Power, Barka Water & Power Company were down by 6.98 per cent, 2.50 per cent, 1.91 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.32 per cent respective­ly.
