Int’ heritage and museum conference to begin from Thursday

LAHORE: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) will hold ‘Internatio­nal Heritage and Museum Conference’ in collaborat­ion with the British Council from September 1 to 3 at Alhamra Art Centre.

According to WCLA spokespers­on Tania Qureshi, the conference aims to bring together heritage and museum profession­als from around the world to showcase examples of best practice as a step towards addressing some of the most pressing concerns of the museum and heritage sector in Pakistan.

The event will bring together internatio­nal sector specialist­s to share knowledge, best practices and discuss the challenges faced by Pakistan in the areas of museum and heritage.

The first two days of the conference will be devoted to the presentati­on of case studies on creating pride of place and identity, enhancing public and community participat­ion, audience developmen­t and extending outreach and integratin­g intangible heritage.

On the third and the last day of the conference, some workshops on digital imaging of sites and objects would be held.
