Bed wear worth US$ 167.665m exported last month

ISLAMABAD: Bed wear exports from the country post 5.64 per cent increase during the first month of current financial year as compared to the exports of the correspond­ing month of last financial year. About 27,183 metric tons of bed wear worth US$ 167.665 million were exported during the month of July, 2015, as compared to the exports of 24,644 metric tons valuing US$ 158.71 million of same month of the last year.

According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, bed wear exports during month of June, 2016, were recorded at 25,054 metric tons costing US$ 154.89 million. Meanwhile, exports of tents, canvas and tarpaulin increased by 18.28 per cent as about 1,712 metric tons of the abovementi­oned items worth US$ 5.557 million were exported.

The exports of tents, canvas and tarpaulin were recorded at 1,208 metric tons of US$ 4.69 million during the month of July, 2015. During the first month of current financial year, the exports of art, silk and synthic textile witnessed an increase of 4.8 per cent as compared to the exports of same month of last financial year.

During the period under review, about 10,759 thousand square meters of art, silk and synthic textile worth US$ 23.83 million were exported as compared to 27,248 square meters worth US$ 22.76 million in same month of last year.

However, during first month of current financial year, towel exports decreased by 16.20 per cent and reached US$ 56.965 million as compared to the exports of US$ 67.19 million of correspond­ing month of last year. It may be recalled that during the first month of current financial year, textile exports registered decrease of 3.85 per cent as compare to the exports of same period last year.

However, during period under review exports of other textile materials increased by 5.89 per cent as about 33.770 million earned by exporting the other textile materials.
