PTI gears up preparations for Raiwind march

- INP

LAHORE: Preparation work for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Raiwind march, to be organised at Adda Plot near the residence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on September 30, has been accelerated. At least 20 containers have been transported to Adda Plot for setting up the stage, while arrangements for light are also being made. Thousands of chairs are being put up for participants of the rally. PTI workers from other parts of the country will reach Lahore in groups and convoys, and each group/convoy will be looked after by the respective group leader. PTI Chairman Imran Khan had announced the Raiwind march last week to press the government for a probe into Panama Leaks. Khan had urged PTI workers, supporters and people belonging to all walks of life to participate in the Raiwind march to get rid of the status quo and corrupt rulers and make a new Pakistan. Khan had said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had not only destroyed democratic institutions but also promoted corruption in the country. “He is destroying ethics of the nation.”

PAT RULES OUT EVEN TOKEN PARTICIPATION: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) meanwhile refused to join PTI’s march on Raiwind. PAT Secretary General Khurrum Gandapur said they were against holding political demonstrations outside anyone’s house before and were against any such move even today. He said Khan’s statement regarding PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri showed his immaturity. He said there was anger among PAT workers against Khan due to his statement. He ruled out even token participation by the PAT in Raiwind march, saying the PTI did not hold any consultation with his party before announcing the schedule for the march.
