POLICE THWART TERROR BID ON PESHAWAR MOSQUE
POLICE averted a major terror bid by defusing an explosive jacket in Daowaran Pur area in the suburb of Peshawar on Monday.
Police said that the explosive jacket was recovered in a mosque in jurisdiction of Pahari Pora police station. Someone had left the device in the mosque to target the worshipers in Zuhr prayer, however after getting information, the police rushed to the site and cordoned-off the area.
Police also launched search operation and arrested several suspects after neutralising the device. Search operation was also launched in jurisdiction of police station Dawoodzai under SP rural Muhammad Furqan Bilal. During the search operation, police arrested 107 suspects and recovered nine pistols, 403 rounds and 5 guns. 200 houses were also checked in the operation in which woman police personnel also took part.
In a separate crackdown, Yakatoot police also claimed to have busted a gang of robbers who were involved in mobile and cash snatching from members of the transgender community. Police said that a transgender named Feroza registered an FIR in police station Yakatoot saying armed men have deprived her of Rs. 30,000 and three smart phone when they were returning from a wedding ceremony.
Police following the information SSP operation Sajjad Khan took notice of the incident and constituted a team of police to investigate the matter. They succeeded in tracing out the criminal named Jehanzeb along with his co-accused. Police recovered mobile phones and cash amount from their possession.
