CM attends ceremony marking Chinese New Year
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended the ceremony held at local hotel to celebrate the start of traditional Chinese New Year, 2017 and the start of spring season.
Cake was cut by Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Consul General Long Dingbin on the occasion. The CM conveyed his best wishes to the Chinese leadership, people and consul general on the start of their traditional year. The chief minister appreciated the Chinese engineers, technicians and workers in Pakistan contributing to the strengthening of the country’s economy, “thousands of Chinese engineers, technicians and workers away from their families are working on the development projects in Pakistan and their determination is praiseworthy”, he added.
The CM further acknowledged the dedication and hard work of these engineers working on energy, infrastructure, orange line, metro train and the other projects. H e said, “We are proud of our Chinese engineers and workers because on this occasion of festivity they are staying in Pakistan instead of joining their families and we appreciate their gesture”.
Sharif also acknowledged the contributions of Chinese government in the country’s economy and development projects. Addressing the ceremony, Chinese Consul General Long Dingbin said, “We will take forward Pak-China relationship with the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif”. Pak-China relationship has been transferred in to strategic partnership after the launch of CPEC in 2015, the counsel general concluded.
