The current world economy situation is defined by enormous quantity of cumula- tive risks which we haven't learnt how to manage yet, and lack of leadership, Herman Gref pointed out when opening the event.

Among risk factors requiring leadership are exhaustion of global growth model when competitive export-oriented countries grew due to the customer demand of less competitive countries.

Such customer demand was provided by loans of competitive countries. Before the discussion there was the interactive voting when the breakfast meeting participants defined the main risks for Russia for the following six years.

Almost a half of voters named ineffective system of state management and social institutions as a main risk that does not allow to implements reforms.

Valdai Club was established in 2004: Its name was taken after the place of the first conference. The Club's aim is strengthening and developing of the dialogue between Russian and foreign scientists, politicians and journalists, scientific analysis of political, economic and social processes in Russia and in the world.
