Shah­baz urges har­mony dur­ing Ashura

Pun­jab Chief Min­is­ter Shah­baz Sharif has said the coun­try is pass­ing through a crit­i­cal phase as it is fac­ing se­ri­ous is­sues like ex­trem­ism and ter­ror­ism.

He said the en­emy wants to desta­bi­lize the coun­try and the ex­tra­or­di­nary sit­u­a­tion de­mands ex­tra­or­di­nary mea­sures. He said, what­ever is hu­manly pos­si­ble, is be­ing done to main­tain law and or­der and at­mos­phere of brother­hood dur­ing Mo­har­ram-ul-Haram.

He was pre­sid­ing over a high- level meet­ing held to re­view law and or­der sit­u­a­tion and se­cu­rity ar­range­ments dur­ing Mo­har­ram- ul- Haram here Thurs­day. Se­nior Ad­vi­sor Se­na­tor Sar­dar Zul­fiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Pro­vin­cial Law Min­is­ter Rana Sanaullah Khan, Mem­ber Pro­vin­cial As­sem­bly Hafiz Mian Muham­mad Nau­man, Chief Sec­re­tary, Sec­re­tary Home, Sec­re­tary Health, In­spec­tor Gen­eral of Po­lice and of­fi­cers con­cerned at­tended the meet­ing. Dif­fer­ent as­pects of the tragic in­ci­dent of Dhok Syedan Rawalpindi were re­viewed in de­tail.

He said that the ne­far­i­ous de­signs of the en­emy would be de­feated with the power of unity and brother­hood. He di­rected that se­nior po­lice of­fi­cers sit­ting in their of­fices should visit var­i­ous dis­tricts to mon­i­tor se­cu­rity ar­range­ments. Ad­dress­ing the meet­ing, the Chief Min­is­ter said that no neg­li­gence would be tol­er­ated in the im­ple­men­ta­tion of the se­cu­rity plan evolved to en­sure law and or­der dur­ing Mo­har­ram. He said that the or­ga­niz­ers of Ma­jalis and pro­ces­sions should be taken into con­fi­dence re­gard­ing se­cu­rity ar­range­ments, while four-tier se­cu­rity ar­range­ments plan around Ma­jalis and pro­ces­sions should be strictly en­forced.
