Money trail leads to home of Amin Fahim home: SC
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry has remarked money trail leads to home of Amin Fahim and then what is left more.
CJP gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench of SC during the course of hearing of NICL Scandal case here Tuesday.
Commerce secretary, Munir Paracha, counsel for FIA, SM Zafar counsel for commerce minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim and other senior officers appeared before the court.
The court was told that Amin Fahim had appointed Ayyaz Niazi. Four accused are outside the country and action is being initiated against them. Most of the accused including Amin Fahim who are present in Pakistan have been released on bail. Financial loss to the tune of Rs 2.6 billion has been caused to national exchequer in NICL scam and a sum of Rs 1.20 billion have been recovered. The amount which was transferred to Amin Fahim account, has now been transferred to respective accounts from where it was transferred. CJP remarked Ayyaz Niazi was appointed under the directives of Amin Fahim and transfer of money avenue leads to the home of Amin Fahim. Then what is left more, he inquired.
The court asked commerce secretary it was his responsibility to take action against the accused. “You have registered cases against them. Now provide the evidence against them too and if your evidences are proved false then action will be taken against you. When court starts hearing of any case then the government institutions become active and before it, all of theme are lying in a state of slumber. Go and initiate proceedings against the accused persons. Register the cases against whom the cases have not been registered. FIA has done nothing against the accused sitting abroad except registration of cases against them. Under FIA rules if the accused sitting in Pakistan are not apprehended then how those sitting abroad will be arrested.
Director Lahore Waqar Haider appeared before the court when the court sought report on the matter of Lahore land.
CJP expressed his annoyance when he saw Waqar Haider remarking “contempt of court case is pending hearing in our court against you and you are appearing here. How can you appear. What happened about your case. Waqar Haider told the court his case is lying in the bench led by Jawad S Khawaja and it has not been fixed for hearing since the last two months. Case is still running.
CJP remarked “what respect has been paid to the orders of the court that the person against whom SC has initiated contempt of court proceedings is enjoying directorship. Court has been made laughing stock. What order is given is not implemented. What FIA wants? First of all we will see the matter of Waqar Haider and then we will see the other things. FIA should present detailed report on the entire case and its explanation with reference to Waqar Haider in the court. Whatever order is given to the government, activity starts contrary to the order. Opponent of court becomes pious and virtuous person.
