Dr Shaikh relinquishes additional charge of Principal of DCET
Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madresstul Islam University (SMIU), Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh, who also had the additional charge of Principal of Dawood College of Engineering and Technology (DCET), has relinquished charge of the office of Principal.
In this regard he wrote to the Chief Secretary Sindh on March 9, 2013, that, "as the post of Principal of Dawood College of Engineering and Technology has ceased to exist with promulgation of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology Act 2013 passed by the Sindh Assembly on February 27, 2013 and subsequently assented by the Governor of Sindh," hence he relinquishes the charge of the office of Principal of DCET.
He also wrote that, "the competent authority may consider appointing Vice Chancellor of the Dawood University of Engineering and Technology) at the earliest in accordance with the Section 13 of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology Act 2013," Dr. Mohammad Ali Shaikh was given additional charge of the Principal of DCET on December 16, 2011, when DCET had come under the administrative control of Sindh government after passage of the 18th Amendment.
Sindh Madressatul Islam and DCET were the main educational institutions that were working under the federal education ministry, before dissolution of the federal education ministry. Sindh Madressah received University status on February 16, 2013 by the efforts of Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh and after it, the DCET too gets a such status by the efforts of the same person - Dr Shaikh. During the period of almost two years at DCET. Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh resolved its many core problems. He appointed required faculty which has been lacking since many years, he regularised the admission and examination process, which was disturb earlier.
He got re-accreditation of various technologies from Higher Education Commission and above all he got University status for DCET as he had got such status for Sindh Madressatul Islam. Dr. Mohammad Ali Shaikh also held a farewell meeting with deans, chairmen and faculty and staff members of DCET at the institution. They all lauded his services rendered for DCET during the last two years. They also said that it was a fact that without hectic efforts of Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh, to get university status for DCET in a short span of time was impossible.
Dr Shaikh also met with students of the institution, who also praised his services for DCET. On the occasion Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh said that he put his all sincere efforts to develop the DCET by putting it on right track. And also resolved basic problems of DCET, which had lingered on since many years.
He said that now there should be no delay in the appointment of Vice Chancellor of DCET. He also hoped that the new VC will make the Dawood Engineering University one of the best engineering universities of the country. He also praised the role of all deans, chairmen, faculty and staff members and students, who extended him full, cooperated for successfully running the institution.
