ADB delegation visits TUSDEC
A delegation from ADB (Asian Development Bank) visited TUSDEC (Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company) at its head office in Lahore.
The visit has been made in objective to review TUSDEC interventions under ADB Common Facility Centres, SME Sector Development Program, says a spokesperson here on Tuesday. TUSDEC has setup CDTC (Ceramics Development and Training Complex) in Attawa Gujranwala under the five years SME Sector Development Program for which Government of Pakistan has been endowed with a loan of 12 million USD from ADB.
TUSDEC is setting up three more common facility centres to support the Light Engineering Industrial Sectors prevalent in Peshawar, Lasbela and Hyderabad. The guests conjugation was comprised of Mr. Joao Farinha Fernandes, Financial Sector Specialist, Mr. Omer Bin Zia, Project Officer and Mr. Harry Abrillo, International TVET Policy Safety Net Specialist from ADB Social Protection Development Project Reconnaissance Mission.
The guests were edified about the ongoing operations of CDTC aligned to its primi- tive objectives. Senior officials from TUSDEC also apprised the sojourning team about implementation phases of three Light Engineering Support Centres under its way. A brief presentation on TUSDEC role in the downright implementation of BISP (Benazir Income Support Program) was also imparted for the guests.
TUSDEC CEO Mr. Basit Maqsood Abbasi briefed about the company's salient efforts for the TVET(Technical Vocational Education and Training) Sector reform in KP, FATA, AJK and Sindh in collation with international donors and local NGOs.
ADB team extolled TUSDEC considerable pursuits of TVET system restoration in Pakistan for sustainable capacity building of marginalized communities. They commended the substantial task and toil of TUSDEC in the areas of sophisticated technology transfer and skill development for the economic progress of the country alongside the company's full-scale outreach and linkages network.
Mr. Joao Farinha Fernandes apprized TUSDEC formidable pursuance in implementation of CFC SME Sector Development Program as an active liaison between Government of Pakistan and ADB. His team highlighted the prospects and need of further collaborations with TUSDEC to efficaciously carry out other development interventions in Pakistan.
