LCCI honors Karachi trader with Retailer Pakistani Award
The business community of Lahore on Wednesday honored renowned Karachi businessman Imtiaz Abbasi with "Retailer Pakistani Award" for showing commitment towards Pakistan, making huge investment in retail sector and providing jobs to thousands of people.
The Award Ceremony was jointly orgainsed by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Lahore Retailers Association (LRA) here at LCCI. The LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar and President LRA Muhammad Ahmad Nawaz presented Award to Imtaiz Abbasi. LCCI Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad, Senior Vice President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shamim Ahmad, Chief Minister Advisor on Trade Mohammad Ali Mian, Chairman LRA Rana Akhtar Mehmood, Anis Iqbal Sheikh, Jamil Ahmad, Aziz Iqbal, Tanvir Niaz, Imran Saleemi and Ejaz Tanvir also spoke on the occasion.
The LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar said that the business community deserves appreciation for doing business in such difficult times of the country's economic history. He said that the retailer plays a vital role between manufacturer and consumer therefore all efforts would be made to protect the rights of retailers.
He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would continue to patronize the heroes of the business community because it understands that the private sector is the engine of growth. He said that sector-specific associations like Lahore Retailers Association should come forward to bring to the limelight the achievements of businessmen. The LCCI President said that the Lahore Chamber would conduct workshops on retail business as this particular area has a huge potential for foreign investment. He said that a number of multinational companies were already doing retail business in Pakistan and making big bucks. The LCCI Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad stressed the need for introducing the culture of training in the retail sector that is one of the biggest sectors of the economy. They said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would play its role for the establishment of an institution that would be imparting training to the retail business people. They said that the Institute would be established with the cooperation of LRA.
