NBP union demands raise in salaries, pension

- Staff Reporter

National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Trade Unions Federation secretary general said that prosperous and satisfied employees can play important role in the development of the bank, while injustices against them undermine its growth.

He was talking to media after his restoration in the bank last month. He thanked all the employees of the NBP, including officers and executives for their due role in his restoration.

Criticising the out-going NBP management, Jahangir said that he raised voice for the genuine demands of the employees and struggled to eradicate large-scale corruption in the bank, which the opportunists failed to digest and got him dismissed from his position in the bank. "However, we have succeeded in our cause and the evil forces in the bank had to lick the dust," Jahangir said, adding that I am thankful to the present management, especially to the bank President, Asif A Brofi. The federation secretary general demanding raise in the bank ex- employees' pension, said that the increase in the pension of the employees is inevitable as the school teachers were drawing more pension than that of the pension being withdrawn by the SVPs of NBP. He demanded immediate increase in the employees' pension and asked the bank management to bring it to the level of 1999. He also demanded removal of the controversial appraisal system in the bank considering it a system promoting nepotism, neglecting the hard worker employees of the bank.
