CDA observes Earth Hour
The Capital Development Authority joined hands with the international community by observing the Earth Hour 2013 to promote cause of sustainable environment, energy conservation and mitigate the efforts of climate change.
The Earth Hour ceremony was held at Faisal Masjid in which CDA officers and workers participated. Member Planning and Design CDA, Syed Mustafain Kazmi switched off the lights of the building as a symbolic act of observing the Earth Hour.
Addressing the ceremony, Kazmi said that CDA was dedicatedly striving to
create a safe living environment in Islamabad. The CDA was adopting the sound principle of sustainable urban development, con- servation natural resources, restoration of natural ecosystem and minimizing the use of non-renewable resources.
He said the effort was also being made to adopt the best practices for reducing consumption of energy and carbon emission. The unique green character of Islamabad - The Green City speaks volume of the concrete efforts of CDA for protection of the Margallah Hills National Park Area and conservation of the natural environment.
The member planning and design said in order to actively participate in the Earth Hour, CDA also switched off the lights of landmarks of the city including Faisal Mosque, 7th Avenue, DChowk, Constitution Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, Parliament House, Cabinet Block and Daman-eKoh and Pakistan Monument view point between 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
