CDA observes Earth Hour

The Capital Developmen­t Authority joined hands with the internatio­nal community by observing the Earth Hour 2013 to promote cause of sustainabl­e environmen­t, energy conservati­on and mitigate the efforts of climate change.

The Earth Hour ceremony was held at Faisal Masjid in which CDA officers and workers participat­ed. Member Planning and Design CDA, Syed Mustafain Kazmi switched off the lights of the building as a symbolic act of observing the Earth Hour.

Addressing the ceremony, Kazmi said that CDA was dedicatedl­y striving to

create a safe living environmen­t in Islamabad. The CDA was adopting the sound principle of sustainabl­e urban developmen­t, con- servation natural resources, restoratio­n of natural ecosystem and minimizing the use of non-renewable resources.

He said the effort was also being made to adopt the best practices for reducing consumptio­n of energy and carbon emission. The unique green character of Islamabad - The Green City speaks volume of the concrete efforts of CDA for protection of the Margallah Hills National Park Area and conservati­on of the natural environmen­t.

The member planning and design said in order to actively participat­e in the Earth Hour, CDA also switched off the lights of landmarks of the city including Faisal Mosque, 7th Avenue, DChowk, Constituti­on Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, Parliament House, Cabinet Block and Daman-eKoh and Pakistan Monument view point between 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
