PM assures rapid implementation of National Action Plan
The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday assured rapid implementation of National Action Plan to curb terrorism. Addressing a high level meeting, in Islamabad, he said the national action plan is reflection of national consensus.
He said Special Trial Courts are part of national action plan to combat terrorism. The Prime Minister said the cases of those culprits involved in the heinous crimes will be sent to the Special Trial Courts. He said the cases of the killers of innocent children, citizens and personnel of security forces will be heard by the trial courts.
The meeting discussed ways and means to ensure effective implementation of twenty-point national action plan to combat terrorism agreed upon by all political parties.
The Prime Minister said Special Trial Courts are an extra-ordinary solution to the extra-ordinary problems. The meeting was attended among others by Federal Ministers Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Pervaiz Rashid, Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Abdul Qadir Baloch and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that construction work would start soon on Lahore-Karachi motorway project. He was addressing the annual awards ceremony of National Highways and Motorways Police in Islamabad. PM said experience of construction of Motorway was a successful one and more Motorways projects will be started in the country. He said the region will become the centre of economic activities due to Pak-China Economic Corridor project. He said that it is a matter of great pleasure that performance of Motorways and Highways police is being appreciated on international level.
He said many programmes are being implemented from the school level to make the highways safe and to make the public aware in this regard. The PM said he wants to see motorway police more people friendly. He also lauded the role of police in eliminating terrorism from the country. The Prime Minister directed for enhancing efficiencies of the organization and recruitment of staff on need basis in a transparent manner. The Prime Minister announced 20 percent increase in salaries of Motorway police.
Inspector General Motorway police Zulfiqar Cheema while highlighting the performance of Motorway Police said the Organization is a role model for other public sector institutions as it has highest traditions of public service. He said performance of the Motorway Police is also appreciated on international level.
He said Motorway Police will provide help to five thousand travellers daily. He said Motorway police is implementing a policy of zero tolerance for corruption and misbehaviour with the travellers. He expressed the determination that Motorway Police will be made the best police of the world.
The Prime Minister distributed awards to Motorway Police personnel who showed exemplary performance in discharging their professional duties.
