PM says terrorists to be dealt with iron hand
Nawaz Sharif said the nation now wants to see the National Action Plan to deal with terrorism in action. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged the political leadership to finalize today the draft constitutional amendment for setting up special courts to try the terrorists.
He was speaking at the meeting of heads of all parliamentary parties in Islamabad on Friday afternoon. He said the draft should be tabled in the National Assembly session today. The Prime Minister said the draft bill has been prepared after thorough consultations with all stakeholders, and hoped that all participants will endorse it. He said the special courts will be established for a specific period of two years and expressed confidence that they will yield desire results within this period. Nawaz Sharif said the nation now wants to see the National Action Plan to deal with terrorism in action so that the country could be purged of the scourge of terrorism once and for all. Recognizing maturity demonstrated by leaders of all political parties, the Prime Minister said it is a matter of satisfaction that the political leadership is taking key decisions. The Prime Minister said he wants to see the country a peaceful place where the citizens have no terror threat. The participants of the meeting also offered Fateha for the Shaheed jawans killed by the Indian border security force. Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff and Interior Minister briefed the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers for Defence, Finance, Interior, Information, Planning, SAFRON, and Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafarul Haq, Attorney General Barrister Zafarullah, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, DG ISI and DG ISPR.
Other participants were, CoChairman PPP, Asif Ali Zardari, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, PTI Chief Imran Khan. JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Muzaffar Hussain Shah of PML-F, Mehmood Khan Achakzai of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Sirajul Haq of JI, Afrasiab Khattak of ANP, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour of ANP, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain of PML-Q, Farooq Sattar of MQM, Hasil Khan Bizenjo of National Party.
