Pres­i­dent ap­proves Is­lam­abad LG Elec­tion Bill

IS­LAM­ABAD: Pres­i­dent Mam­noon Hus­sain on Tues­day ap­proved Is­lam­abad Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Bill on Tues­day, af­ter which, the lo­cal gov­ern­ment law in the fed­eral cap­i­tal is now in ef­fect.

Ac­cord­ing to de­tails, the Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Bill was sent to the pres­i­dent by Prime Min­is­ter Nawaz Sharif and af­ter the ap­proval, it is for the first time that lo­cal body elec­tions will be held for the first time in the fed­eral cap­i­tal. Prior to this, the Na­tional Assem­bly had sent the Bill to the Se­nate af­ter ap­prov­ing it and the Se­nate had sent it back to the Assem­bly af­ter mak­ing some amend­ments. The NA then ap­proved the Bill and sent it to the Prime Min­is­ter.
