President approves Islamabad LG Election Bill

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday approved Islamabad Local Government Bill on Tuesday, after which, the local government law in the federal capital is now in effect.

According to details, the Local Government Bill was sent to the president by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and after the approval, it is for the first time that local body elections will be held for the first time in the federal capital. Prior to this, the National Assembly had sent the Bill to the Senate after approving it and the Senate had sent it back to the Assembly after making some amendments. The NA then approved the Bill and sent it to the Prime Minister.
