IMF pro­grams help­ing in eco­nomic growth: Zubair

Chair­man Pri­va­ti­za­tion Com­mis­sion Zubair Thurs­day said the gov­ern­ment was striv­ing hard for eco­nomic re­vival of the coun­try and dif­fi­cult de­ci­sions were be­ing taken in this re­gard. Talk­ing to a pri­vate Tele­vi­sion chan­nel, he said all the pro­grammes be­ing run un­der In­ter­na­tional Mon­e­tary Fund (IMF) were aimed at en­hanc­ing eco­nomic growth of the coun­try. Zubair re­ply­ing to a ques­tion said that the mar­ket­ing of Pak­istan Steel Mills and Pak­istan In­ter­na­tional Air­line (PIA) was a big chal­lenge, adding the gov­ern­ment would en­sure trans­parency in the pri­va­ti­za­tion process. He in­formed the pri­va­ti­za­tion of both public en­ti­ties would be made in the March next year. Re­ply­ing to another ques­tion re­gard­ing in­creas­ing rates of elec­tric­ity, he said 65 per­cent of the peo­ple who were con­sum­ing less elec­tric­ity units were not af­fected by the in­crease.
